The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes formally kick off the weekend with a dinner, for those who are already in the city.

The BSI Distinguished Speaker Lecture
This year's Distinguished Speaker is Dr. James O'Brien , emeritus professor at Missouri State University and author of Edgar Award winning The Scientific Sherlock Holmes (2013).

The Daintiest Thing Under a Bonnet Charity Ball 
The Baker Street Babes present a dinner to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project.
8:00 p.m.  The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South (map)
Cost: $35.00 for a appetizers, hors d'ouerves, cash bar, and entertainment. Tickets go on sale on November 22 (click to purchase).

11:00 a.m. Otto Penzler opens the Mysterious Bookshop (58 Warrren St. - map) to Sherlockians; open until 5:00 p.m.

The William Gillette Memorial Luncheon
12:00 noon Lunch and entertainment at Moran's Chelsea Seafood Restaurant (map)
Cost: $47.00 for salmon Wellington or chicken Marsala; $52.00 for prime rib

The Baker Street Irregulars Dinner
6:00 p.m. The BSI dinner at the Yale Club (50 Vanderbilt Ave. - map) - invitation only

The Gaslight Gala
6:30 p.m. The Gaslight Gala (dinner and entertainment) at The Dove Parlour (228 Thomspon Street, New York, NY 10012 - map) - open to all Sherlockians and their friends 
Cost: $105 includes open bar; those under 21 will have a reduced price of $75. Suggested dress is formal, but Victorian costume is also appropriate.

The Gaslight Gala is open to all Sherlockians, regardless of age, scion/society affiliation, academic standing, type of superpower, radio frequency, or Michelin star rating. We pride ourselves on being a fun and inclusive event that mingles our love of the Sherlockian canon with a good dose of humor and friendship. It is a privilege to carry on the tradition of the Gaslight Gala, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Lost in New York with a Bunch of Sherlockians
Stranded in Manhattan on Saturday night with nothing to do, trying to stretch the BSI weekend to its fullest? Then join us in an evening of fun and frivolity in the name of the Master. We are planning to have more fun then a human ought to have including a quiz, toasts to every canonical thing under the elm and some that aren't and prizes, prizes, prizes!

Arrangements for Birthday Weekend lodgings have been made at The Yale Club of New York City at 50 Vanderbilt Avenue, NY, NY 10017 (west side of Grand Central Station, map) with special BSI tax-free rates. See the BSI Weekend General Reservation form (PDF) for all room type options and pricing.


Arrangements have also been made for a second block of rooms at The Roosevelt Hotel at 45 E. 45th Street, NY, NY 10017 (a block from The Yale Club, map), also with special BSI tax-free rates, see the Reservations Form below.

Both venues are full-service facilities; breakfast is available at each but not included in the room rates; you will need to arrange for incidentals charged to your room to be paid at check-out.


Please note that if you choose to book directly with either BSI venue, or elsewhere, you will not receive the special BSI tax-free rates and you will be paying New York City and State taxes amounting to 20% of your total hotel bill. To secure BSI room rates, and save the 20% tax, the BSI is accepting reservations for lodging and other BSI functions from Sherlockians who are not attending the BSI Dinner and who are not BSI Members, as described in the form below.
